Virtual Test Video Recording Information:

A skater who is hiring their own videographer will also need to make sure the following people are present when a test is being recorded: Videographer, Proctor and your Coach. The Videographer and Proctor can be the same person or your Videographer and Coach can be the same person, but your Coach cannot be your Proctor (see Proctor requirements below). Once you have a video for submission follow the registration process and email your video file and completed forms to Tim Totter.

Video Requirements:

If you would like someone else to record your test you should review the requirements on how to record your test and print out and complete the following required forms:

A. Affidavit for Virtual Test Submission

B. Name and Likeness Release and Consent Agreement

Proctor Requirements:

USFS requires that a Proctor observe the skater taking the virtual test. "The proctor must be an impartial person of authority (i.e., rink management, skating school director or local skating official) but may NOT be a coach/choreographer who has worked with the athlete, training mate or a parent/guardian of the athlete or any training mates)."

Skating Procedures:

  • The recording starts with skater holding their phone showing the date & time and saying their name and the name of the test or the video shows the judging form with the skater's name on it.

  • Skater sets phone down and goes to their starting position, music is started for freeskate or dance tests and skater begins their program. No music is allowed to play if a skater doing a MIF Test.

  • Skater may take breaks during their MIF test as they would in an in-person test, but the video will keep recording the skater during the break as the video must be continuous.

  • If the skater makes too many major mistakes during their test their coach should signal them to stop and start over from the beginning as videos are not allowed to be edited.

After you and your coach are satisfied with the video do the following:

1. Email the video to Skating Director, Tim Totter

2. Submit the on-line Test Application and pay the testing fees through our Square store.

3. Skaters who are Not home club members of Valley of the Sun FSC, must have their home club email permission to test to Valley of the Sun FSC.
